My Name is Andrea...

...and I'm addicted to ultrasounds. Yes, I believe I have a problem. So as we all know I sneakily made my u/s appt for a week earlier than my OB said to. And then Tuesday afternoon hit and I was like I absolutely cannot make it to Friday so I called and changed it to yesterday...hehe! It has been over a week since my last one...and at the RE I was getting weekly u/s so I pretty much was going out of my mind...I needed to see Skooter! I'm basically having a symptomless pregnancy (with the exception on my insanely broken out forehead) and for me no symptoms = one effing crazy pregnant lady. How can you feel totally normal but have a baby growing in there...I don't get it?!?

The kicker is of course now I have a 3 week gap between yesterday and my 1st trimester screening, so I've really screwed myself. BUT, the important thing is I got to see baby Skooter yesterday and it was amazing as usual. Below is a pic of my little teddy graham! Still not quite looking like a baby, but aren't those little arm buds adorable (head on left laying sideways)?!?

So of course today I'm obsessing about how I get in to my OB office sooner, see I told you I have a problem! Hubby joked they're going to have signs of me in the offices, saying do not let this girl sneak in...hah! So we have that wedding the weekend of the 6/19 and I would really like to go public with our news. One I'm excited to start telling people, two I believe a few people are on to me and it would be nice to finally come clean, and three I'm really over the fake drinking! We went to a bday party last weekend and I had to hold a cold beer all day and eat bbq stuff with nothing to drink cause we were on these people's roof top and all they had was a huge cooler of booze. You know how tempting it is to take a sip of beer when chowing down a burger, especially when you're dying of thirst. Brutal!!

Anyways, I know I have absolutely no reason not to think everything will be just fine (you would think my last 7 u/s would convince me of this), but I have this irrational fear of going public, and then going to my 1st trimester screening the following tuesday only to find out something was wrong! I even tried to bump up my screening to the thursday/friday before the wedding but you have to be 11w4d which I will be on Friday (but they don't do u/s on Fridays, ugh) and Thursday I'm obviously 11w3d....so out of luck there.

So my new plan is my OB told me to u/s in 2 weeks (check), and schedule appt with her for 4 weeks. So now I'm thinking maybe I can move that appt up to the end of my 11th week right before the wedding instead of the week after. She said we'd try using the doppler to hear the heartbeat and if we couldn't get it I'd just get a regular u/s (ding ding ding)! So I may try to sneak that out this morning.

I know...how crazy do I sound that these are the things I obsess about! Poor hubby, he actually has to listen to these plans on a daily basis. In any case despite my case of the crazies, today I'm just going to remind myself how amazing little baby Skooter is doing, and how truly grateful I am each and every day!

Skooter is BEAUTIFUL!!! I am SO jealous of the ultrasound! I go back next Wednesday and am going to beg for one but I think I only get a doppler. I'm thinking the doppler might not work yet though because of my body "fluff" so maybe I'll get an ultrasound too?!

I feel like I could've written this post! I'm such a PREGNOID!! OMG! And for the most part I feel completely normal as well. I've only had ONE ultrasound (at 6w3d) and I can't wait to see my little one again. Skooter is such a cutie pie!

Skooter is so CUTE! I think he/she definitely looks like a baby. Absolutely adorable. And don't worry, I would be just as u/s crazed as you are. Once you go from being monitored constantly to being monitored once a month, it's hard not to go a little mad. You are doing so well, though. And I do love how you are cheating the system. Sounds like something I would do. :)

OMG!!! My name is Cathy and I'm ... JEALOUS! Your little person looks like a little person. He/she is so much more than a blog right now. Remind me how far along you are. I want to see a little person tomorrow. ;)

And hey... I say sneak in any way you can. ;) One can never have too many ultrasounds. That's my new motto.

haha - I love this post because I know we would all be doing and thinking the same darn thing if we were in your shoes.

How are you preventing yourself from POAS every day? I know that's what I'd be itching to do...haha.

I totally understand your worry about coming out at the wedding and then something happening *knocks on wood*. Hopefully it's a fear that will not be realized! :)

Hope you can get in sooner. Anything to help you feel better!

Great picture.

Can't you fib and tell the doctors you'll be traveling and want to come in early? So what if your just traveling around "in town"?! I know I shouldnt be feeding the beast, but I sympathize because I know I would be the exact same way.

Scooter is a beaut!!! It's so cool seeing the growth and development. Congrats on yet another perfect u/s!

I love it when you get ultrasound pictures in the gummy bear pose. I had mine stuck to my mirror almost until the end of my pregnancy because it was just too cute.

I was crazy like you too, especially because like you, I had no symptoms. I broke down and bought a fetal monitor by the time I was 10 weeks. Most days I could find her just fine and nearly right off. I listened to her heartbeat every single day of my pregnancy, and sometimes multiple times a day. If you're crazy like I was, and it seems like you are, I recommend getting one. It is just too much fun to listen to the heartbeat all you want. Plus it really helps put your mind at ease. I got mine on Am.azon for $100, so its not too high of a price to pay.

Any woman that has to go through IVF (infertility period) should have a free pass to be NUTS. You should be able to get an ultrasound on a Sunday morning 9am is need be. They should have ultrasound vending machines at Wal-Mart. Just walk up swipe your credit card and ta-da out pops the ultrasound wand. Pics print in less than five minutes. Looks like I just thought of the next million dollar idea :)

ha ha! And once the ultrasounds start getting more "babyish" and less "blobish" you are going to be even more addicted! You are lucky that they are so flexible with you! I don't htink I get another u/s for 8 weeks!!!

I am the exact same way!! First, I can't get over your little teddy graham! So adorable...they always remind me of gummy bears at that stage.

I think you'll feel better once you can actually use a doppler at home. WORTH the money! Yes, it freaked me out several times if I didn't find it right away, but it has been the only thing keeping me sane. I, too, was used to frequent u/s's with the RE. Every two weeks up to 10w. Then I started at the OB and now have had to wait 8 whole weeks since my last one!! I haven't seen my baby in 8 weeks!!!! And the doc said this will be my only u/s until if we have to do one later in the pgcy. You better bet that I have already researched those 4-D u/s places that you can pay to go get one! All I can say is thank goodness for the doppler.

Luckily, I have to say that time has flown by. That is, except for today of course because we have our big u/s to find out the sex today at 4. Wouldn't you know this day is crawling by!

Anyway, hang in there. Get a doppler. Very excited for you!

Those are the cutest arm buds ever :)

hahahahhahaha, I love your addiction to ultrasounds. Too cute. And SO understandable.

Can't wait to see you tomorrow!

I just want to high-five those arm buds! :)

I was going through our insurance paperwork while waiting in the office for our appointment this morning, and I saw that we only get ONE u/s unless there is some other medical reason to necessitate another. ONE. ONE! Crrrap! The hubs pointedly asked our OB how much an u/s would cost out of pocket because we just can't live with only one. In case you were curious, it's about $250, hehehe. And the OB joked that we should probably spend that $250 on lots of other baby items instead. Apparently, she doesn't get how spoiled we infertility patients are by our constant wanding. :)

Awww, look at your little gummy bear! Isn't it amazing how quickly they change?

What an amazing picture! It is hard going 3-4 weeks between appts. I am glad you have been able to figure out how to lessen the time to help you feel better. I have my big u/s tomorrow and it has been 9 weeks since we have seen our little one! I have had 2 appts in between but they just used the doppler. I am very glad though that I have a hope doppler too. It has been a tremendous help to my nerves & stress levels! I look forward to hearing about your upcoming appts!!

Ohhh what a beautiful photo! I'm sure I'd be the same way with the u/s. Also, I finally caught up on your blog and can't believe the pregnancies lined up the same, exactly a year later. Wow. So glad you have photos of darling Skooter and that this is your year!
Hugs!

Hope you can sneak in the u/s that day, I have the same obsession with the ultrasounds so I understand the need lol

I would absolutely be addicted to ultrasounds too and trying to get in for one as often as possible.

Skooter is cute - like a lil gummy bear!!

Congrats!

I would be obsessed, too! Oh, and I think Skooter looks absolutely beautiful!!

Oooh I so understand the whole 'coming out' thing. We're going to Vegas at the end of this month, and I'll JUST be 10 weeks. It's mostly close friends going, and they're sooo going to notice/question why I'm not drinking. So I think we'll have to spill the beans. DAMN. I really wanted to wait until 12 weeks.
And I'm super jealous of the the u/s's you've gotten! I'll be 7 weeks by the time I've had my first one, and then who knows after that :(

What an adorable picture! And I am just as obsessive as you so I totally don't blame you! :)

I'm sure I would be the EXACT same way. Hahaha. Congrats Andrea!
